The burden is on me
You've no need to know
But this pain I'm not sharing
Hurts me so.
It's when I wake up
When I go to bed
When I think up simple rhymes
In my head
The secret world I keep from you
To keep you safe
To protect you
The dark in the world keeps encroaching
But for now it's mine to keep
So you can see life for what it could be
Then I smile whilst I sleep
