We're different people now
As time insists we must
The memories we don't have together
Just vague flickers of dust
Could we have been happy together?
Now that age has ironed out the flaws
Or is it better that it died
With no chance of reopening a door?
I see you wearing pretty dresses
I see you wearing nothing but a smile
I feel you kissing my lips
Those memories stay top of the pile
They drown out the fool that I was
They blur the technicolor divide
They mute out the skorn and the venom
They tell the sweetest of lies
So the young man I was must be happy
That we've travelled so far and found peace
But the old man will always wonder
If you still have memories like these.
