The Tide

Looking on the year
we've lost, we've won.
The world bent double -
we swam in seas unknown.

We came through with some
wrinkles, memories and miles -
tears for loved ones past
and bygones were imbibed.

We kept in mind our
hopes, dreams and near ones,
The distant and the dear ones,
Our misty and our clear ones.

Looking at the year we've lost
I'd like to think we won -
Hand in hand in a hurricane
In an ever-setting sun.

Well, this ditty is not perfect,
But it just means to say,
If you ride the tide again this year,
Then you'll have done OK.

Looking on the year
We've lost, we've won.
So raise a glass to last year,
And ride another one.
