Six Years

When did what was right become all that was wrong?
Was it because of the rock and roll I lived so long?
You said it was you but I'm no fool.
Your lies that hide a painful truth.
Does suffering help, will it take away the memory?
Or do jazz and blues just spell out all that you meant to me?
Will you be down, will you cry?
Will I be gone in a month, a week, a day?
Friends that stay, long for the me of old.
Longing for a return of my power soul.
Your picture in me fades like the evening sun.
But my heart still bleeds as the road goes on.
I know I must heal, I know I must see.
That it's lonely here in this gothic country.
There has to be a light, a signal, a sign.
Because despite it's cliches, I want to feel fine.
All the whiskey, smokes and bitterness won't help me I know.
They just take me on a trip to Blue Mexico.
The blank smiles of friends, the whispers, the silence.
Mean nothing next to my empty passion.
And then It all comes down to one mere truth.
That I'm tired of these sunset blues....... Of me without you.

No One

No one cares what you say.
No one cares what you do.
No one cares what happens to you.
No one cares about your problems.
No one cares if you need a little more time.
No one cares what you consider important.
No one cares that it's your life's work.
No one cares that you have dreams.
No one cares when you die..........

But who cares what no one thinks.

GET WITH THE PROGRAMME

No-one's a programme.

The Spiral.

Jenny With The Red Coat

Into the bar she walked with an audience of two. Put down her money then indicated she’d like me to listen. Jenny wore a long, red coat, and it looked beautiful on her.

She sat on the stool and talked about feelings and friends, and glanced across after something like an hour.

I sat and read the paper.

Drinking her wine with her audience of two.

Then, caught unawares, a hand appeared to my right. A table I wasn’t using, she leaned against. She placed her hand down, and everything changed (not that I knew).

She asked me if I’d be so kind as to keep an eye on her coat. Jenny with the red coat. She smiled. And so, I obliged.

It wasn’t as though it was any kind of problem. After all, I was only reading the paper (for the second time that night).

The audience of two (who had no-one to watch any more) chatted about the changes the year had made to their lives. Until Jenny with the red coat returned - the beautiful, red coat in question laying beside my right hand.

She picked up the coat. She turned her back and faced her audience of two. Jenny, the red coat and her long, dark hair in my view.

Then later, a man with a problem to share.

He whisked Jenny and her long, red coat through the night, along with her long, brunette hair.

And I pretended I neither knew, nor cared…

But now I can’t be sure that Jenny with the red coat doesn’t think about me now, when I think about her…

Do you look at the moon?
Do you look at the moon?
Jenny with the red coat…
Did you look at the moon…
That night?
